 Dear Parents: 🌎 Earth Day Assembly On Tuesday, April 22, we celebrated Earth Day with a school-wide assembly. The students did a wonderful job participating and showing their commitment to taking care of our planet. It was inspiring to see the enthusiasm and respect they brought to this important event. ✉️ Writing – Letters to Mother Earth In writing, students wrote heartfelt letters to Mother Earth. They practiced organizing their ideas into clear paragraphs and offered thoughtful action ideas on how we can all help take care of our environment. Their creativity and care for the planet really shone through! ➗ Math – Fractions Galore! This week, we continued exploring fractions—specifically equivalent fractions, improper fractions, and mixed numbers. The highlight was a game called Scoot , which got everyone moving and thinking as they practiced their fraction skills.  Dear Parents 🌟 Literacy Focus In literacy, we’ve been exploring how to begin our sentences in different and interesting ways! Students are learning to vary their sentence starters by using verbs , adjectives , prepositional phrases , and even -ly words (like “excitedly” or “suddenly”). This skill helps make their writing more engaging and expressive. Ask your child to show you how they can start a sentence in a new way—you’ll be impressed! 🟣 Math Matters Fractions continue to be our focus in math. We’ve been working on creating equivalent fractions and learning how to place fractions correctly on a number line .  Dear Parents  Phys Ed Students have been moving and grooving in our dance unit! We've been learning choreographed dances such as Waka Waka and Gangnam Style while exploring beat and rhythm. It's been a great way to combine fitness with creativity and musicality! Science In Science, we’ve been investigating magnets. This week, students explored the north and south poles of magnets and conducted experiments to test the strength of different magnets. They loved using hands-on materials and sharing their predictions and results. Writing In Writing, we've focused on sentence variety. Students are learning how to add interest to their writing by starting sentences with adverbs and experimenting with different sentence structures. It’s exciting to see their writing skills grow! Dear Parents/Guardians, This month in math, we are beginning an exciting new unit on fractions ! Fractions are an important concept that helps students understand parts of a whole, parts of a set, and the way numbers can be divided and shared. Here’s a quick overview of what we are learning in class and how you can support your child at home. What Are Fractions? A fraction represents a part of a whole or a part of a group. It is written with two numbers separated by a line, such as 1/2 or 3/4 . Parts of a Fraction Numerator: The top number in a fraction, which tells us how many parts we have. Denominator: The bottom number, which tells us how many equal parts the whole is divided into.
