April 14-18
Dear Parents
π Literacy Focus
In literacy, we’ve been exploring how to begin our sentences in different and interesting ways! Students are learning to vary their sentence starters by using verbs, adjectives, prepositional phrases, and even -ly words (like “excitedly” or “suddenly”). This skill helps make their writing more engaging and expressive. Ask your child to show you how they can start a sentence in a new way—you’ll be impressed!
π£ Math Matters
Fractions continue to be our focus in math. We’ve been working on creating equivalent fractions and learning how to place fractions correctly on a number line. Students are using visuals and number sense strategies to deepen their understanding—it's great to see their confidence growing!
πΆ Phys. Ed Fun
Get ready to dance! In gym, we’ve been learning some classic group dances: the Cha Cha Slide, YMCA, and the Chicken Dance. These fun routines are not only great exercise but also build rhythm, coordination, and teamwork.
π Social Studies Spotlight
In social studies, students created thoughtful comic strips illustrating the perspectives of both Indigenous peoples and the Canadian government during the creation of Treaty 7. These comics sparked meaningful conversations about history, fairness, and understanding different viewpoints.
π A Special Outing
We were thrilled to attend a live talk by the incredible Dr. Jane Goodall at the Performing Arts Centre! Her stories about her work with chimpanzees and her message of hope for the planet were truly inspiring for us all.
