 Dear Parents  Mathematics: Division Concepts We have been diving into the world of division! Students are learning that division is repeated subtraction and are becoming familiar with important vocabulary words: Quotient – the answer in a division problem Dividend – the number being divided Divisor – the number that divides the dividend We encourage students to practice division facts at home to build their confidence and fluency. Science: Exploring Space This week, students completed their space unit by writing a test to demonstrate their learning. Dear Parents: Mathematics This week, we introduced the concept of division. Students explored how division relates to multiplication and practiced dividing numbers into equal groups. To reinforce these skills, please encourage your child to practice basic multiplication and division facts up to 12 × 12. Mastery of these facts will greatly assist them in solving more complex problems. Poetry In our poetry sessions, we focused on the element of rhyme. Students read various poems and identified rhyming patterns, enhancing their appreciation for poetic structures. They also experimented with writing their own rhyming verses, fostering creativity and a deeper understanding of language. Physical Education Our physical education classes centered around gymnastics and movement. Students utilized the climber and mats to practice balance, coordination, and flexibility.  Dear Parents  We began our journey into poetry using the wonderful book Love That Dog by Sharon Creech. This engaging and heartfelt story introduces students to the beauty of poetry while encouraging them to find their own voices as young poets. The book has sparked meaningful discussions and inspired creativity within our classroom. Our "So Much Depends Upon" Poems As part of our exploration, we studied the poem "The Red Wheelbarrow" by William Carlos Williams. The students reflected on the poem's simplicity and how it conveys so much meaning with just a few words. Taking inspiration from this, each student wrote their own "So Much Depends Upon" poem. These poems are unique, personal, and demonstrate their ability to focus on details and imagery.  Dear Parents  Important Announcements Math Focus:  This week, we are emphasizing multiplication facts for speed and accuracy. Encourage your child to practice at home to boost their confidence and skills in math! Science Tools:  We are exploring technology tools in science, including binoculars and telescopes.. Physical Education:  In Phys Ed, students are enjoying our gymnastics unit, focusing on rolling and balancing techniques. It’s a fun way for them to develop strength and coordination! Writing Skills:  We had a mini-lesson on syllables to help improve spelling. Additionally, students have started writing diary entries from the perspective of a Canadian voyageur, allowing them to immerse themselves in history through creative writing.
