Jan 20-24
Dear Parents:
This is a snapshot of our third week in January.
Mathematics
This month, we’re diving into multiplication! We’re starting with the concept of repeated addition to help students understand the foundation of multiplication. Our ultimate goal is for students to memorize their multiplication tables up to 12x12. Daily practice at home with flashcards or apps can help reinforce these skills. Let’s work together to build strong math confidence!
Social Studies
In Social Studies, we’re continuing our exploration of Alberta’s rich history. Currently, we’re studying the Fur Trade and learning about the significant role of the beaver in this era. This unit is helping students connect with the historical roots of our province and understand how natural resources shaped early settlements.
Science
Our Science lessons have taken us out of this world! We’ve begun studying space and have discovered the fascinating concept of constellations. Students have been amazed to learn how these “diagrams in the sky” have been used for navigation and storytelling throughout history. Encourage your child to look at the night sky and see if they can spot some constellations!
Special Events
On Thursday, we had a wonderful treat when a quartet from Philharmonic Orchestra visited our school and performed for the students. It was an incredible experience to enjoy live music and learn more about musical instruments. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible.
Reminders
Practice multiplication facts daily to ensure mastery of the 12x12 tables.
