December 2-6

Dear Families,
What an exciting and engaging week we’ve had in our classroom! Here’s a look at some of the activities and learning highlights your children have been a part of this week:
Math
We explored symmetry through a creative radial art project, which gave students an opportunity to apply mathematical concepts in an artistic way. We also dove into understanding lines, focusing on parallel and perpendicular lines. The students loved finding examples of these in real life!
Science
Our budding environmentalists began working on persuasive letters to send to a leader in our school, city (Calgary), province (Alberta), or country (Canada). These letters focus on ideas for protecting our environment and reflect the students’ thoughtful insights and growing sense of civic responsibility.
Literacy
We took inspiration from the beautifully descriptive book Owl Moon to review nouns and adjectives. Students practiced identifying and using these parts of speech to enhance their own writing. This activity has helped build their appreciation for the power of descriptive language!
Physical Education
This week, the students enjoyed floor hockey drills and relays, which encouraged teamwork, coordination, and active fun. It’s always great to see their energy and enthusiasm in the gym!
Social Studies
Our community walk was a memorable experience as we explored Calgary’s history through old photographs. The students were fascinated to see how the city has changed over time and loved connecting the past with the present.
