October 28-November 1

 Hello Parents,

This week in math we have continued to work on place value.  Thank you to those who have returned their child's math test.  We have worked on lots of Guess My Number questions where students have had to guess each others 4 digit number using words such as 'even, odd, greater than, equal to etc'.  In Social Studies we continue to learn about each of the six regions in Alberta and take notes on the climate, natural resouces, animals, and vegetation in each region.  It has been a learning curve figuring out headings and what information fits under the correct heading.  In gym basketball continues as our ball handling and target practice continue.  Our writing continues to improve as we are learning about descriptive writing, using 'extraordinary' words and adding detail.  We have had images to look at and then we have been required to add detail to paint a picture for the reader.

The students did a wonderful job participating and showing their commitment to taking care of our planet. Dec 6-13

 Dear Families,  Design Process Invention: Our students engaged in a fantastic project where they created inventions to solve winter problems. They collaborated, drew designs, assembled their products, and proudly shared their finished creations with the Grade 1 class. Math Learning: In math, students began learning about angles! They explored acute, obtuse, and right angles, which sparked their curiosity and creativity. Social Studies: This week, we enjoyed hearing various oral stories, including practicing the tale of "Napi and the Dog." This activity encouraged storytelling skills and cultural appreciation. Physical Education: Floor hockey brought a lot of fun and teamwork to our physical education classes, allowing students to develop their skills while enjoying friendly competition. Dear Parents/Guardians, This month in math, we are beginning an exciting new unit on fractions ! Fractions are an important concept that helps students understand parts of a whole, parts of a set, and the way numbers can be divided and shared.
