Oct. 21-24
Hello,
This week we continue to work on place value in math. We used riddles to figure out specific numbers. Eg. I am a three-digit number.
My tens digit is one more than my hundreds digit, and my ones digit is one more than my tens digit. Students enjoyed trying to figure out the number with the provided clues. Students wrote a math test this week which was reviewed and sent home. Please sign the test and return it to school to indicate that you have seen your child's level of understanding. In phys ed we have started a new unit (basketball). We have started to work on ball handling skills and dribbling.
How exciting our Ramsay school dance was on Thursday. Next week students are able to wear a Halloween costume to school if they choose. We will be having a parade in the afternoon so that all students can share their costumes. Please do not bring any accessories such as wands, knifes etc. If they have a mask they will be allowed to wear it for the parade but during the day it will have to live in their backpack.
Writing interesting sentences has been our focus this week. We have had a few lessons on changing a boring sentence into an interesting sentence. Students have learned the word 'adjective' and are encouraged to use them in their writing.
Our last month's topic in science has been discovering earth's systems and learning about managing waste. Students wrote a science test on Thursday which will showcase their understanding. It will be marked and sent home next week. Please sign in when it comes home and return it to school.
