September 2-6

Dear Parents:

This week we listened to the book called Little Hummingbird.  We connected this story to one of our 3 pillars of care ( Care for Others).  The story was about a little hummingbird trying to put out a forest fire by collecting a small drop of water and placing it on the roaring fire.  He continued to do this while all the other animals did nothing to help.  The message is to be the best you can be and always try.  Each student drew a hummingbird and used watercolor to finish.  We placed them above our classroom door as a reminder to always be the best we can be.

We also completed some nature art inspired by Andy Goldsworthy. With Ms Elder's
Class, we went to the top of the hill and left our creations on the grass for the community to enjoy. We know that over time, the items will spread by the wind, animals, and people walking by. This is an example of temporary art.
We also know that these natural artifacts, like pinecones, will slowly decompose over time and their nutrients returned to the ground.

Upcoming:
-please remember to sign the soccer residency form that went home this week and return it to school ASAP.
